Mike B. was raised in Las Vegas, land of the implied nude, where he kept himself armed 24/7 with the latest in disposable film camera technology. In those years, he amassed a fairly impressive collection of prints ranging from random parking lot fender-benders to his never-to-be-completed project VW Bugs to flirty pictures of girlfriends and their friends.
Since then he has sidearmed his adoration and expanding knowledge of photography and lighting when creating music/promotional videos for bands, working on major TV productions, and when building a successful brand in the video games industry as a trusted analyst and video personality. All the while booking shoots to fill the downtime.
Now, He finds himself in the seductively diverse San Francisco Bay Area. His core style is set in random hotel rooms where tacky furniture become supporting actors and the processed color palettes reflect that of the classic pin up era. It’s not uncommon, however, for him to be seen shooting through a handheld, unmounted lens, inviting in stray light and crushing the depth of focus, or sporting a giant, brass, rail-mounted projector lens for that sweet CinemaScope feel.
